Michele Stewart Counselling

Embarking on a journey of self exploration with a therapist can feel like a risky decision as it involves an opening up of mind and heart in the presence of another. The benefits however can be powerful. Understanding patterns, relationships, past hurts and confusing experiences within a caring and supportive environment can be transforming. A skilled therapist can help you connect with and utilise your own resources and find balance and flexibility in life.

About Me

About Michele Stewart

I am a counselling educator and practitioner with 30 years experience in the field of personal growth and therapy committed to assisting people to make positive changes in their lives both big and small. I have been privileged in my professional life to see the transformation of my clients as they move through a journey of self discovery to connect with their values, rediscover meaning and purpose and make their dreams a reality.

Coming from an emotionally-focused perspective, I encourage exploration and expression of feelings as the road to awareness and understanding of who we are.
This can be during a crisis, when making difficult decisions or just taking stock of life. Helping people to speak about, focus on, experience and express their inner world brings healing and change.
I also encourage exercise, writing, mindfulness practice, reading and other creative tasks to help support this process of change. Another line of enquiry is honouring the wisdom of the body and inviting focus on what our physical self may be communicating.

I draw mainly on training in Emotionally Focused Therapy as well as Polyvagal theory and Embodiment practices however we can collaborate together to find the best way that works for you.

I value the world of theatre, music, film and literature as an inspiration and resource in my counselling work. Laughing, health, nature, family and community are big priorities for me also.
